I have to admit that you will need lots of patience with this because assembling the cookie dough can be quite challenging, especially in such a humid weather in Singapore! It was also difficult to get the right circle shape & most of my lion heads came out oval. One thing about these cookie recipe was that it came out too sweet too. Also, they resembled bears instead of lions. (i insist they are lions!)
But overall, they make great gifts for loved ones & they do look really appealing!
So I made the cookie dough & let them chill overnight before slicing them up to bake them.
They warm up really fast so I had to be quick at this step.
Lion heads without faces haha
For the lion eyes, i simply roll tiny bits of the cocoa flavoured cookie dough and pressed them against the lion faces. The recipe calls for black nonpareils but I had no idea what or where to get them so replacing them with cocoa cookie dough would be fine i guess. This goes into the oven, 160 degree celcius for approximately 13 minutes.
After 13 minutes, I took them out to cool. Unfortunately, some of the cookies crumbled up because they weren't cooled completely ):
Drawing the faces and the ears on was pretty challenging too as I had to play around with the melted white/dark chocolate with toothpicks. Took me some time to draw them on, but I'm very satisfied with the finished product! Ta-dah~
Yumyum! (:
I have to resist eating the whole batch as I'm pretty sure I'll get a sugar rush.
Gonna box them up and share them with my friends tomorrow!
I would also love to try out other animals...any suggestions?
Till then, have a wonderful week ahead!
